ALEX FERGUSON has hailed Ryan Giggs after the legendary winger was named Manchester United’s greatest ever player.
Giggs topped a poll of United fans and finished above Eric Cantona, George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton.
Red Devils boss Ferguson said: “I am not surprised at all.
“He recently appeared in his 600th league game, which is an exceptional achievement.
“That won’t be done again, not by one player at the same club.
“And then we can talk about his performances, which have been top class for 20 years. Even now, at the age of 37, he is amazing.”
Giggs admitted he was shocked to be informed of his latest award.
He said: “When I got told I genuinely couldn’t believe it
“There have been so many great players here.”
